Our child welfare services are geared to provide services, resources and people to walk alongside families as they navigate solutions to strengthen their families and prevent fixable challenges from becoming life-altering. Counseling Programs & Services<\/h3>

Illinois Youth and Family Services Counseling programs provide extra support, guidance, and positive experiences to youth and young adults of all ages, races, and cultural backgrounds. These programs help children and families make positive changes in their lives to improve the quality of their lives. Early Childhood Care & Education<\/h3>

Illinois Youth and Family Services early childhood education program promotes healthy development and long-term well-being are most important during a child's first five years. As our brains develop rapidly, we build a foundation of experiences and relationships that will carry us through the rest of our lives.\nHowever, this development is in jeopardy for many children whose families lack access to quality early education and care, especially those living in low-resource communities impacted by historic and institutional racism. \"Opportunity gaps\" are measurable as early as nine months after they are created.\n<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Parenting<\/h3>

The Illinois Youth and Family Services offers support to families in our program as well as to those referred by DCFS who are experiencing challenges such as domestic violence, substance abuse, or trauma. By providing support and assistance we can give immediate help to children that may be at risk and are also at risk of removal from their families and entry into out-of-home care. Our program is focused on supporting and strengthening families, so children may remain with their parents.\nOur staff members engage all family members by developing and sustaining relationships based on trust, empathy, responsiveness, and respect. The work is a partnership between our staff members and the family members. Through this process, families are able to identify their areas of need and are connected with appropriate and family-focused supports such as housing, transportation services, substance abuse treatment, and counseling.\n<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Volunteer<\/h3>

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available from weekly to once a month to a one-time event or activity. Volunteers are placed in positions based on interest, need, skills, location and availability. Whether reading stories to a classroom, providing youth outreach, helping a child with homework, or providing support to our office staff, volunteers make a difference in the lives of children and families.
